Hello lovely readers
Mulberry, the iconic British Brand has this week released images from it’s Spring/Summer 2014 advertising campaign and I love, love, love them! Model of the moment, Cara Delevingne is back once more as the face of the label. However, Cara is not the only star of the campaign it also features amongst others; Archie the Cockatoo, Dusty the Pony and a whole host of Dogs.
The campaign was shot by Tim Walker , who was recently behind the short film entitled “Suspensions of disbelief” starring Kristen Mcmenamy for W Magazine. It marked a return to Shotover House, an 18th century mansion in Oxfordshire that was also the location used for the previous A/W campaign. Showcasing the labels new season designs and updated classics, Miss Delevingne is surrounded by a menagerie of animals partaking in an afternoon tea party. Apparently Dusty is a very greedy pony, let’s hope he didn’t eat the bags so there will be plenty left for us to buy!
The other guests do not appear to have the best table manners but Cara is not at all fazed. Against this rather lovely, whimsical back drop and Mulberry’s clean lines the new Kensal shoulder/clutch bag in fiery red pops right out at you and is sure to become a coveted must have.
The Kensal marks a slight departure away from the slouchy bags that Mulberry have previously been famous for (although classic’s such as Bayswater remain and have had a new season twist). This collection is the final offering from the label’s departing Creative Director Emma Hill, it features a more structured and refined look. The Kensal comes in two sizes, is double faced with separate storage compartments, can be converted between a clutch or a shoulder bag and has a briefcase style closing mechanism. For me it represents a more grown up feel and it is definitely going on my wish list for 2014. It’s capacity to be clutch or shoulder means it can work for a diverse range of outfits and occasions. I think I can get a lot of wear out of this bag, hmm what colour to go for….?
The campaign also features Mulberry classic the Bayswater which has been updated for S/S 2014 with suede stripes in fiery red and as a double zipped tote. English spring roses evoke visions of clear crisp days when this bag can most definitely come out to play. Bayswater is here to stay and it’s regular seasonal updates ensure it remains fresh and relevant.
I just love these pictures! They make me want to buy the whole collection, jump in a vintage convertible and drive around the English countryside, hair blowing in the wind on a beautiful spring day. We will stop by a village pub next to a river for luncheon before retiring to our spring rose strewn garden for an afternoon nap followed by afternoon tea (minus dogs I am afraid). Though Dusty can come if he promises to leave us some cake! Quintessentially British? Well that is Mulberry isn’t it?
What do you think of the campaign? Are you a fan? What is your favourite Mulberry piece?
Peace and Love
